Year 5
Mrs S Ackerley
Welcome to Year 5!
We learn in a stimulating, inclusive environment in which children acquire the skills, knowledge and understanding that will help them to realise their full potential for personal development and educational success. Our classroom is a place to celebrate our learning journey using not only the national curriculum, but also wider learning opportunities such as Forest School and bespoke educational trips and experiences.
Our mantra is “Practise makes better!” which aims to build resilience and positivity.
PE days – The children will have PE on both Monday and Wednesday. Children should have full PE kits in school every day, in case our timetable needs to change.
Swimming – Thursday afternoon commencing in the Spring term.
Our class timetable is flexible to the needs of the class and is subject to change for whole school events (e.g. Christmas performances, World book day, visitors to school etc) or PPA cover.
Homework- Pupils will be encouraged to participate in daily reading and complete their weekly reading challenge. Please listen to your child read and complete their reading diary to celebrate their efforts. Participating in daily Times Tables Rock Stars games is encouraged to continue their rapid recall of all their multiplication and division facts, supporting their wider mathematical understanding. Your child will also have the specific spelling list words to practise to support their understanding of spelling rules and application in the wider curriculum.
We look forward to a successful and fun year ahead!
