Bike Bus

A Bike Bus is a group of children cycling together to school accompanied by their parents and adult volunteers. Mrs Aldridge started Lostock Hall’s Bike Bus in September 2023 after hearing about how other schools in different parts of the UK were running similar Bike Buses.

Lostock Hall’s Bike Bus is run by Mrs Alrdrige, and she is assisted by Mrs Bateman and Mrs Palmer plus a number of adult volunteers. The Bike Bus takes up the whole width of one lane of the road and all participants wear high vis jackets. We have staff cycling at the front and back with parents and volunteers cycling near to the white line, and all children ride inside the blocked in area.

Our Bike Bus takes in at least two laps of the Bird Estate (more in good weather!) before arriving at Lostock Hall Primary School. It runs fortnightly on Fridays between 8.15am and 8.45am and operates from September to the end of October and March to July.

We ask that vehicles who come across our Bike Bus do not attempt to overtake. The safety of the children taking part is our highest priority.

The aim of Lostock Hall’s Bike Bus is to give the children a  fun and healthy way to start their school day!
